This film project was based on time-lapse footage of sunrises and sunsets up and down the country. Because all we had was a basic point-and-shoot Canon camera, each image in the time lapse was taken manually every 30 seconds for half an hour to an hour as the sun set.
The time-lapse footage was then combined with an originally-composed score by Tim. Also at Tim’s behest, we worked together to craft a simple message on the power and creativity of the God who made all things. Purely natural, unguided processes could not generate the world we experience. In the everyday beauty of sunrises and sunsets, God reveals himself to humans everywhere (Psalm 19:1-6).
“The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them,
and there is nothing hidden from its heat.”
Psalm 19:1-6, ESV
